Tsubaki have a range of chains to suit all off road applications. Alpha X Ring Gold is probably the ultimate sealed chain for dirt bikes and was used by Yves Demaria to win the MX3 World Title in 2004. Omega is an economically priced sealed O Ring chain. MX Pro is Tsubaki’s flagship non O Ring Motocross chain featuring ceramic coated pins, projected-shouldered bushings and gold coloured inner and outer plates. This chain is used by the CAS Honda Racing Team in the MX1 World Championship
520 Racing Pro is Tsubaki’s state of the art road race chain, featuring low friction TX4 sealing rings and gold coloured inner and outer plates. As well as being the chain of choice for the Stobart Honda and Hawk Kawasaki British Superbike teams, Racing Pro was used by John McGuinness to set a new outright lap record for the Isle of Man TT course in 2004 – surely the ultimate test for any racing chain. Tsubaki apply the technology used to create Racing Pro in their range of final drive chains for road bikes – Sigma, the incredibly strong sealed chain for superbikes – Alpha, a lighter weight chain for medium size sports and touring bikes – and Omega and Gamma, economically priced chains for smaller bikes.
Whatever branch of the sport, a rider’s first priority where drive chain is concerned is reliability (Tsubaki racing successes from the nineties include World Superbike titles for Doug Polen and Scott Russell). The Tsubaki range allows you to pick a reliable chain, with in built Japanese quality, at a reasonable price.
In 2006 the Stobart Paul Bird Motorsport British Superbike team begin their third consecutive season using Tsubaki drive chains and riders Michael Laverty and Michael Rutter intend to capitalise on the team’s ‘learning’ year with Honda machinery in 2005.
Scott Russell won the 1993 World Superbike title riding a Kawasaki and was one of the most charismatic personalities to grace the series. His career ended after a start-line crash in the 2001 Daytona 200 – a race he had previously won five times.
Josh Coppins rides for British-based CAS Honda in World and British motocross championships. The 28-year-old Kiwi has won the British MX1 title for the last 2 years and has placed third and second overall in the World championships.
